Proceeds from the sale of merchandise are used to restore and maintain Mount Vernon for the benefit of the American people. Silver was an important part of the 18th-century household and collecting charms and small silver mementos was as popular then as it is today. This sterling silver design was inspired by or adapted from artifacts in the collection at Mount Vernon.
